Well, as I continue sitting around waiting (it’s becoming one of my best skills) for my next life adventure I’ve been able to sit back and enjoy life’s precious moments as they come. This weekend I got to see my first niece graduate kindergarten and mark one of the many accomplishments sure to come in her life.

And although nothing big is taking place in my own life, my day to day life is filled with enough small moments for me to grasp on to and breath in life. To keep my brain from completely turning to mush I have been re-reading through some old favorites, and this week’s choice is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Last night as I was curled up in my bed reading (as always quite a bit later than I should have been up) I was reaching the most vivid moments of the story. And just as I read “The shutters had been thrown back, and with a sensation of horror not to be described, I saw at the open window a figure the most hideous and abhorred. A grin was on the face of the monster; he seemed to jeer, as with his fiendish finger he pointed towards the corpse of my wife.” I glanced hesitantly at my open window. And just at that moment was hit in the neck by a monstrously large moth or maybe one of those large clingy bugs; I don’t know since I never found it. I found myself jumping out of bed as fast as I could and running to the bathroom. I locked myself in for what seemed like hours although it was probably closer to 30 seconds. And by the time I stopped shaking the only way I could fall asleep was by hiding completely under my covers.
Yes, I’m a strong, independent 25 year-old woman, who just happens to be afraid of imaginary monsters and ninja-fast bugs.
